John Philip Bostron

For more than 34 years, John has been designing homes for the way people really live. As Lead Designer of Lone Pine Design Group, he believes good design starts long before the first line is drawn. It starts by listening. Every family has a story, every piece of land has its own character, and every home ought to reflect both. Whether he's designing a custom home, restoring a historic building, or helping a family reimagine the home they already love, his goal has always been the same - to create places that feel like they belong.

 

John was born and raised on a fourth-generation family farm on the prairie of northeastern Colorado, where hard work wasn't something you talked about - it was simply part of everyday life. Whenever he had the chance, though, he headed west into the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming. Those old ranches, weathered cabins, and rugged landscapes sparked a love for architecture that has stayed with him ever since. While most kids were reading comic books, John was studying architectural magazines and sketching floor plans. At fourteen, a broken window led to pushing a broom on a construction site to pay for the damage. Before long, he was helping build homes, and he never looked back. More than three decades later, that same curiosity and appreciation for craftsmanship continue to guide his work.

 

Over the years, John has contributed to thousands of residential projects, from rough sketches to completed homes. He specializes in custom homes, historic restoration, preservation, replication, and thoughtful remodels, believing the best designs are honest, practical, and built to stand the test of time. He has a deep respect for old buildings and the stories they tell, and he enjoys helping clients preserve that character while creating homes that serve generations to come.

 

After the Colorado flood of 2013, John moved to Estes Park to join a local architectural firm. Not long afterward, he met his next-door neighbor, Carey, and together they've built a life rooted in a shared love of the mountains, historic places, and Colorado's rich heritage. They live in a 1949 log cabin west of Estes Park with their rescued "mountain terrier," Lucy, who has become a favorite visitor at Carey's shop, CABINtique, and at John's office.

 

John still approaches every project with the same values he learned growing up on the farm: listen first, work hard, treat people right, and design homes that feel like they've always belonged on the land. Around the office, you'll often hear a saying from one of his earliest mentors: "Clients become friends. Friends become clients." That's more than a motto - it's the way he's chosen to build both his business and his life.
